BST SENSORS:
THE OPTIMAL SCANNING SYSTEM FOR EVERY MATERIAL
The large number of BST eltromat components that can be connected guarantees an optimum adjustment to your individual requirements. All BST Sensors have the necessary connections for digital/analogue operation on BST controllers.
The right scanning system for each type of material.
The current position of the web is the basis. It is captured by one or more sensors as an actual position.
Ultrasonic Sensors (US): The scanning of the web edge is realized contactless by ultrasound.
Optical Sensors (IR): Non-contact scanning of the web edge is carried out by light.
Digital Sensors (CLS Pro 600 / CLS CAM 100 / CCD Pro): The non-contact scanning of the web material is carried out by detecting optical contrasts.
The Ultrasonic Sensors from BST facilitate the touch-free scanning of the web edge using ultrasonic waves.
Ultrasonic Sensors at a Glance:
• Resistant to dirt and variations in material transparency
• Measurement values not influenced by height fluctuations in the material in the sensor scanning area
• Compensates for disturbances through external sources of noise and other ambient influences
Areas of application:
• Materials with dust- or fibre-like deposits
• High transparency films
• Films with changing transparency
• Light-sensitive materials
The Optical Sensors from BST facilitate the touch-free scanning of the web edge using light.
BST Optical Sensors at a Glance:
• Optical scanning (resistant to foreign influences)
• Measurement values not influenced by height fluctuations in the web in the sensor scanning area
• Optional rinsing air connection protects the optics from contamination by paper dust or abraded particles (IR 2011)
• The large proportional measurement area facilitates the web centre-line guiding, even in the case of relatively large web width variations
• Areas of application: transparent and non-transparent materials, thick materials
Field of Application
- Transparent and non-transparent materials
- Thick materials
BST offers various digital sensors that scan the web touch-free by registering contrasts in light.
The BST CLS Pro 600 sensor stands out through its high precision when scanning print lines, print edges, or web edges with colour sensors.
CLS Pro 600 at a Glance:
• Precise scanning of lines, print edges, or web edges using colour sensors
• Optimal lighting conditions by automatically regulated LED lighting
• Extreme reliability, even at the highest web speeds
• Clear presentation on the colour display
• Minimization of downtime through simple operation and an intuitive user interface
• Positioning help via laser projection
• Realistic depiction of the print line, print edge, or web edge on the colour display
• Removable control panel for ease of operation, even in scanning positions that are difficult to access
• Possibility for remote operation of the basic control functions
• Convenient selection of the print line, print edge, or web edge, because contrast transitions are indicated with colours
Field of Application
- Digital scanning of web edges, printed edges or printed lines
- Web center-line guiding, web width measurement
- Control of tools or other machines (tracing of cutting knives, etc.)
OBJECT RECOGNITION WITH CLS CAM 100 – STATE OF THE ART GUIDING
The all-new camera-based BST sensor CLS CAM 100 allows controlling directly according to objects and motifs on the web. Scanning of print lines and print edges is of course also possible. The intuitive, simple user guidance via the supplied 7-inch multi-touch operating panel is worthy of particular mention.
CLS CAM 100 at a Glance
- Precise scanning of objects and motifs, lines, print edges, or web edges using colour sensors
- Optimal lighting conditions by automatically regulated LED lighting with 500 fps
- Object recognition, even at the highest web speeds up to 1,200 m/min
- no additional trigger / no additional trigger signal required
- Intuitive user guidance on the external 7-inch multi-touch control panel
- additional operation via colour display directly on the sensor head
- Minimization of downtime through simple operation and an intuitive user interface
- Positioning help via laser projection
- comfortable selection of guiding criteria by intuitive swipe gestures
- Areas of application: control of contrast edges, web edges, or printed lines
- Automatic job and setup saving to minimize makeready times
BST offers various digital sensors that scan the web touch-free by registering contrasts in light.
The BST CCD CAM 100 sensor is especially suitable for the digital scanning of print lines, print edges, or web edges, and for the web centre-line guiding and web width measuring. A CCD CAM 100 can recognize up to eight contrast transitions.
CCD CAM 100 at a Glance:
• Resolutions of up to 60,000 pixels through the microprocessor-controlled CCD chip
• Various objectives for adjusting the measurement area of the application
• Camera parameters adaptable to a change of material during operation (no change over time)
• Fast set-up and adjustment through the integrated graphic display
• Simple operation through numerous automatic functions (e.g. suppression of interfering contrasts, contamination compensation, white balance, saving of the set-up values)
• Fast and secure transfer of the production and parameter settings through networking via the BST bus system
Field of Application
- Digital scanning of web edges, print edges, or print lines
- Web center-line and web width measuring
- Control of tools (such as the tracking of cutting blades, etc.)

“BST web guiding systems are characterized by reliable technology and “plug and play” connection. The only thing we need is a web to be controlled and a power supply, and it works. Of course, our systems meet international standards for worldwide operation.”
